This is a poem I wrote about someone important to me and I don’t know if it’s any good but it says love in my eyes. It’s very personal to be sharing, but I wanted to anyway. And yeah. Uh. Okay. I’m just going to leave this here and, uh… head off. Bye bye now!
When you think of safety
you think of them.
They’re not your lover,
not even your pet cat
or dog, or horse, or lizard
but they’re always there anyway.
They wipe your tears
or clean your cut knee
(even if they hate the blood)
and give you a lollipop when you’re feeling down.
They bring cups of tea when you’re stressed
and a tissue box when they don’t know what else to do.
Maybe they get you help, or
support you if you want to do it yourself.
But most of all,
perhaps most importantly of all,
they’re there when you need them.
Always, and unconditionally.
